When looking at these coins here on CC and some coins I am looking at it appears that the doubling in motto, date and liberty are the same for both 3 and 8 on the site and the same on the ones I am looking at, however the markers are not the same. Is there an easy way to tell which ones I have.

Jack,
Look at the "T"/s in "TRUST", (on die # 8 ) ... both "T"/s have a die gouge, on the TOP left hand side of both "T"'s, and a Die scratch from the rim above "E" of "UNITED", were the die # 3 does not have these marker/s.
Hope this helped.

PennyHound Thanks! Then there is no difference in the date, liberty and motto- just in the markers. I will try to get some pictures of the markers on the coins I have and post here.

Jack, that's not what you ask: I was just answering your question. (an easy way to tell)
Yes ... thy are different and using the die markers ... help to confirm, which die it is / is not. I don't know how much time you have in (studying / researching) Numismatic/s of different coin/s ... hobby, business, fun ... what-ever, but I can say this: before you get started, spend some time on getting educated in the subject, spend more money and time on different references to said area you want to get into ...
Don't ... please don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to de-mean you in anyway, that's not my intention in writing this ... I just see it more and more now days, were people jump in and start buying, selling and you name it ... with no earthly idea, in what thy are doing. (many people collect many different things for many different reasons and most of all ... to each their own ... )
Educate yourselves, ask question/s ... but please do somethings on your own ... do some reading and contribute, share in your knowledge.
Look again at the "date/s" and the "T"'s in "TRUST" big differences, while both are very similar thy are quite different.
Long story made short: look, read, educate yourselves and ask questions, above all ... enjoy what you do.
Happy hunting.

PennyHound
Thanks I have found the answer to my question with your help!
I was using information that was not correct. I have a DDO that was labled in error as a 8 and I was useing it as a guide rather than a creditable source.
