Die Notes

Large Date Zinc. Very similar to 1982P-1DO-001 except that this is on a copper plated zinc planchet, this variety shows nice extra thickness on the motto and LIBERTY, especially on the verticle bars of the L, I and B. The extra thickness decreases as you go clockwise on the devices.

Each stage tab below is clickable — it opens more identification photos and marker notes for that stage (A, B, C, and so on). Start on the summary above, then switch tabs to see how the die evolved.

Obverse: The plating problems prohibit finding verifiable markers, however, there may be a die scratch in front of the lips.

Reverse: A small die scratch between the tops of the letters T and E of UNITED. Die scratches above the center of the M of AMERICA. Reverse is MDS.
