They polish, plate, smash, whatever so if you look at enought you find one's that had strange stuff done to them. I can't say for certain but your cent was either polished or plated or varnished. <br />It's like the thin cents that people used acid on. I have a 1995 Cent that is gold plated. It was just an advertising ploy from a local shop. They would give them out to their customers. The had many in a container to go along with a business card. <br />People polish coins to make them appear to be uncirculated. Why would a penny be polished or plated & plated with what? <br />Sorry so late in responding just returned from a my husband's father funeral in Cleveland. There are no DDO's for this year on this site does anyone know if there are any at all? I scanned it but it still does not show the brilliance. Also a couple arrows where I thought might be trails? What & why would this be plated & with what? The glare hides much of what you are trying to show. IMHO, it looks like you have a DDO, from the "liberty" letter thickness.
