Mike,

That's one of the 72 DDO's.

It's probably either 1D0-003 or 1DO-008, they're similar so you should check the markers.

The easiest marker to look for is a small raised die scratch going up from the top of the E of liberty. If it has that it's #3.

If not look at both Ts of trust for a little die gouge going up from the top of either or both of the Ts to the rim. If it has that it's #8.

I think it is 003 as the two die scratches between WE T in TRUST are seen on your image. The only ones that don't show as far as I can see are on the GOD in the motto. So try turning the coin 90 degrees and see if the if the die scratches there match 003. The coin from what I can see is kind of in between the two listed on the site. But if the scratches are not through the G on GOD you may have to check 008. But I feel it is 003 by your images. Check you coin to these two dies and let us know. (I always love a search in progress) Great find!

Yup, definitely 1972P-1DO-003. I found one for a quarter at the show this weekend.

They generally sell for $15-$25 in BU. The dealer had it marked as a normal 1972 cent in the bargain bin. It happens a lot, you just have to be patient to spot them.
