When an RPM is considered a "South", just what does that mean?
Is that the direction of the faint mint mark in relation to the BOLD mint mark?
Or is it the direction of the BOLD mint mark in relation to the faint mint mark?

An RPM direction is the direction you have to travel from the bold mintmark to get to the fainter or underlying one.
The ONLY exception to this is a tilted RPM because neither is the boldest....they are intermingled such that you cannot determine which is the primary. My avatar is 1927D-1MM-001, a tilted RPM. You cannot tell which is the prevelant one, so neither are.
