What do you call a carbonated soft drink? It's a very regional thing.

Quite the project this person has going here. Obviously, it is very regional. When I was growing up in Boston, we called it "tonic". When I was stationed in Michigan, it was "Pop" and now that I live here in Florida, it is "soda". I guess I have used whatever was the norm wherever I was living at the time. Actually, I personally would rather have a Pepsi!!

Having grown up in NYC we always called it "soder", but Rheingold was our beverage of choice.

Drives me nuts to hear people call it "pop" here too. I don't know where I got calling it "soda" from, but that's all I will call it. Evidently from the map it must be a St. Louis area thing.

I always called it "pop" in the Chicago area. That seems to be most prevalent. "Soda" is starting to make inroads though.
