I got a photocopy stand from my father who is an ex photographer the photo floods are just way to strong any ideas on what kinda bulb to use in the two fixtures. It works real good the scope fits under and has every thinkable angle adjustment. Just wanna be able to post better pics then from the kids digital microscope lol

Eric,
The trick here is to use something to diffuse the light. We use fiber optic light boxes, and the light is way too bright, so we diffuse the light with white coin tubes, For your setup, you might want to consider putting some tissue or a sheet of paper under the light to deflect the wash effect. Give it a try and let us know.

Eric: Make sure your not putting tissue paper/plastic bags on a bulb that is hot. You might try a rheostat if the bulb isn't a floresent type. You might be able to lower the wattage and get the right setting for your task. This may not work for all lighting systems. Most of the time you don't have enough light. So if you have some images of the setup, that might help to post them to see what you are working with.

I use two Longstar Compact Fluorescent Lamps Model FE-IIS-15W/50 which are Daylight Full Spectrum Lamps. I mount them on either side of a MiniStand and it seems to work very well.

Welcome to the site Reardon! Looking foward to seeing some of your images. When you first start taking images you think this is great. But after a few hundred of them, you look back at your first images and think, what improvement I've made from when I started. I found some of the first images that I took necessary to go back and do again.

The truth is that I am just learning folks...and for sure have a long way to go...somebody told me once or maybe twice that you never stop learning...that is until you expire.
