I've noticed that BU OBW rolls stopped a few months back. I've seen the first rolls in the year that I get are sometimes LDS/VLDS coins. Hate that when it happens. But I guess someone has to get those die states as they are more plentiful/pitifull.

Coop, all the boxes I have opened have Condoms on 'em, and the dates are generally20-25 years, and later. 90% will be LDS, and as you said VLDS. I have only gotton ONE roll of BU same date/mint roll, and it was in a box of quarters.

I just had to share.. I just got back from a wedding Oct 28th in San Fran and I bought $50 in penny rolls while I was there, I had the hardest time getting back on the plane. They searched my luggage and everything I had to explain what I was doing with pennies. My husband thankfully kept his mouth shut. I know he was itching to say blow up the plane or some else stupid. They wanted to know what I was doing with "that much money"... I swear the police guy said it with a straight face. The guy used a calculater to add it all up and look at me and said you know you only got $50.00 here. Like he was breaking bad news to me or something. Finally made the flight. I felt sooooo much safer knowing he was on the job protecting us and all.
** I seem to get a fairly nice mix of coins here in MN. I go over to Wells Fargo and I get boxes all the time. I get a fair mix of mint marks and even a lot of wheats. I would be willing to pick up some boxes for people if they like. As a matter of fact they know me so well that when I get foreign coins they will take them back the next time I go into the bank and give me credit for them. (They have a no foreign coin policy at that.) Probably helps that Im a girl!!!

Catherine, I'll bet the other passengers gave you a wide berth when they saw all the fuss about the two boxes of cents! I guess it is a little awkward, trying to handle a couple heavy boxes, being a lady. Your Hubby should have shared the load, and the fuss, as well. Naybe it was for the best. Sometimes us "hubbys" tend to put our foot in our mouth with the least provocation! Been there, done that!

OH NO he was carrying them!! They were in our camera bag.. Hee hee I insisted on putting HIS $500 camera in the suitcase and the pennies in the camera bag so they would not be damaged!!!
David is still learning we have only been married Since Aug 28. 39 years of bachlorhood is hard to wipe out of a man in just a few months. But he does well, as he puts it when we tell the story is he just shut up and carried the coins and nodded when I talked to the police guy.
These guys were not the brightest, they even suggested we get a camera bag for the camera after searching us.... not realizing that the coins were in the CAMERA bag!!
Oh well the pennies got home safe!
David greatest fear was that they would not let us on the plane with the pennies and that I would make him rent a car and drive the things back to MN. Boy he got lucky.........
No need for him to know I would have just mailed them at the post office IN the airport!!

I hear ya Catherine. I went to visit Chuck a few years ago and took 3 three inch binders FULL of coins in flips. When the bags went through the x-ray machine, they freaked and I had to open all the luggage so they could see for themselves that some fool was carrying hundreds of pennies with him. I didn't even lock the suitcase on the way back until after they had a look. I haven't carried that many more on an airplane since.

I assume that "hubby" knew he had the coins, in the camera bag. Must have been pretty heavy! )

I never carried a large amount of coins with me on a trip, but did end up bringing home around $250,000 in slabbed inventory in a carry on once. I got to do the private room search thing only after being asked at the security point "why"...stupid question from someone who is supposed to be sensitive to the idea that when someone wants a private search there has to be a good reason.
When we got into the room I told him what I had. He looked inside one of the boxes, let me repack it, and said "good luck". He let me go on my way. I doubt having that much on me phased him much - I'm sure they are used to seeing oddities all the time.

This is the first year i have not been able to get a solid BU roll box at any bank. The banks all order them for me and get a responce from the armor car services that they have none. Can you imagine the metro detroit area not getting any new pennys. I can get nickels dimes and quarters whenever i want but no pennys this year

Darrel, how are you feeling? Keep us posted on your pending trip to the hospital. We all care...
Just wanted to say that I enjoy the looks that some of the folks give when I buy 1, 2, 4 boxes of cents. I don't know if they think I am "nuts", or not, and done't care, either. I see others buy a box, and buy a pack, or two, of dollar bills, also. Yo each his own! I am glad we are able to endulge.
