As I have only made a few posts, maybe this would be a good time to tell a bit about how I got involved in this challenging, frustrating, rewarding hunt for Lincoln Cent varieties. I had been collecting for a couple of years, and had an interest in the varieties, but the few that are listed in the "Red Book" left much to be desired since there are so few pictures, or any real information. I had set up a table at a couple local coin shows, and at one of these in McKinny TX, I met this fella that had some copies of "Looking Through Lincoln Cents" This looked just like the sort of information I had been looking for! From there, I checked out Coppercoins.com. Wow! I was overwhelmed with information, and even more confused. Still, I persisted. Even though I had a limited understanding of what exactly was going on at this website, I liked it and at one point I sent an email to Chuck asking permission to link to his site. Chuck was very helpful, and to make a long story a little bit shorter, he came to Sherman to do a presentation on Lincoln varieties at our local coin club this past spring. I have to admit, I was inspired. Suddenly, so much of what confused me about the website made sense. Armed with this new understanding, I really started "Looking Through Lincoln Cents"! I was AMAZED! Rolls of coins that I had looked through just months before was turning up some really nice RPMs! How did I miss a MS 1955S-1MM-001?! I was surprised at how many nice varieties I already owned. Another nice surprise was a MS 1956D-1OM-002. In one of the boxes of coins I offer at shows was a MS 1955D-1MM-003 I had marked for fifty cents. It's a wonder it hadn't been cherrypicked! These are just a few of the coins I found in my own collection. I have learned a tremendous amount about the hobby these past months due mostly to this website. Despite this, I still have much to learn, and continue to learn more nearly every day. I have coins that I set aside months/weeks/days ago because I couldn't identify them. It's really satisfying to go back to those coins and figure out what they are. There's still plenty of coins in the "I don't know" stack though. I'm sure you will all hear more from me as I continue to figure this beast out! Many Thanks to all involved!

NWDave, I don't know if others have seen your post, but at any rate, allow me to welcome you aboard! As you have already found out, this is a great place to "hang out"! There is much to learn, and many to help.

That's a very inspirational post NWDAVE. The very purpose of and reason Chuck designed and built this site is evident in what you received by viewing it and his book.
The explosion of new people here is a testament to what coppercoins has accomplished. I certainly hope for your continued successes and education of this hobby.
