Can someone tell me what this means? Its for sale on ebay and I was just curious what they meant by Penny Struck Thru Late Cap Die Error.
Thanks,

That means that a previouse coin was stuck to the die and stayed on the die for several strikings of other coins so it formed itself like a bottle cap with its rim going up over edge of the die holding it there.
Then a coin struck by the die that still has the coin smashed over it is "struck by a late die cap". As it gets later (struck more coins with it stuck there) it gets thin and the coins struck by it starts to show more of the dies image on the coins.
So one side of the coin, probably the obverse will not have many details, maybe no date depending on how late it was it might show more detail.
Eventualy the die cap coin will come off. This coin would not be the one stuck to the die, it would be one of the later ones struck through that coins remains.
