Hard to say could be damage. Possibly struck through something but I would go with damage.

Looks like it jumped over to the other side of the 9 Laughing

THAT IS PRETTY GOOD WAY TO DESCRIBE IT. IT DOES KINDA LOOK LIKE IT JUMPED SHIP Laughing

Steven, I concur. The chip by the "9", could be a die chip, more than likely, is a dent in the die. The "1", is damage. The two dots to the right above the the date lopk like gas bubbles.

Dick has the right answer here.

A struck through would be incuse to the field of the coin and usually would affect the devices last. A coin hit is the most likely culprit when a device is flattened like this.
