Hiya Smed - of course I remember you. Some of the folks didn't follow to this format, but this is what we have now. Something about not being able to run CGI perl scripts on this server took me out of being able to install the old chat. I still have the program in case I can ever figure out the problem, but people have grown well to this one. I kinda like it. Things are saved much longer here and the atmosphere is good.
Stick around, there are a lot of people participating and your knowledge is highly welcome!
- Chuck

Hi Smed...I can't say I remember you, but welcome to the forum anyway. Not only that...but you are practically a neighbor being from P'cola and all. I live in Niceville, a mere 60 miles from you.
Anyway...welcome and feel free to adress any of the issues here, or post your own!!

Robert, I'm glad you remember me, but you're going to have to give me something other than "robert" to go on... so many people didn't use their real name on there (me included!)...
Bob, cool! Are you a member of any of the local coin clubs? We'll have to hook up at a show sometime... next one I know of is Foley in January...

Smed - ones you'll likely know (other than me) are:
Doug - ebay(lobwedge)
Coop - ebay(coop49)
Robert - ebay(rewrew)
Steve - ebay(pennywise, et. al.)
Most of the rest are either from the CU board or Numisaddict, or were picked up here over time. The word is actually spreading about the site.

To all eBay posters:
I've only glanced once at the eBay coin chat board, just long enough to determine that I didn't particuarly like its physical layout. So, I obviously haven't looked at it seriously. That said, what's your opinion of it? How does it compare to the PCGS board, the NGC board, and this board?
Thanks in advance.
Mark
P.S. "epay"...that was funny!!

Hmm....that's a pandora's box.
The Ebay board's style takes a little getting used to, but many like it after they get used to it. Unlike real-time chat rooms the eBay chat lasts for 200 posts regardless of how old the posts are. This is good for rather short conversations and people who like to keep up by 'reading back through the posts'. Unlike a threaded message board like this one (and CU, NGC) it doesn't have subject continuity, thus finding anything of particular educational use is purely hit and miss. It has its purpose, but it's more of a chat room than a posting board.
My problem with that board is more personal than functional, and I no longer post there because of a short list of individuals who post there regularly and have taken over pseudo-ownership of all goings on there. If they don't agree with your every word, they go after blood, trying to make your every second there uncomfortable by heckling and ridiculing you. This is behavior unlike any I've seen on any other numismatic related forum, and is both disturbing and pathetic.
If you give it a shot you might find differently, but I am one to doubt it. As soon as you bring up one of the many sore subjects and are not in full agreement with the self-proclaimed leadership and police of the board (much worse than Kiefer) you will be persecuted to the fullest extent of their usually less than educated opinions. For instance, go in there insisting that PCGS is the best grading company - you'll be burned at the stake. The numbers prove it, but the leadership of the board is behind ICG and that's all there is to it. If you don't agree that ICG is the best, you're thrown into the dungeon. I've said enough - that's my view on it.

I normally dont post on ebay message board a lot, unless its about errors and variety coins. I normally answer all questions about variety coins, and error coins in the board. My user name is loro-rojo.

Obviously (to some, not to others I'm sure) I no longer post on the epay chat. I thought it was pretty good when I was there, I liked the way you could go back and catch up.
Just for argument's sake, I like NGC the best.

Hi Smedley. Hope all is going well for you and your family. Bet the boys are almost all grown by now. Still remember the good time we had in Hawaii.
