Bruce,
If your talking about BIE die cracks. that thread show pretty much the same only those found in later years. They ran pretty much through the 50's.

Bruce these die breaks don't usually bring a premium unless BU and only one comes to mind the 55S BIE in BU. I just keep them to have some examples to reference. Don't forget to look for the die varieties while your going through the rolls.

Happy searching,
Steven

Steven,

I have seen 55-S BIE cents selling with a lot of hype, but they are very easy to find. Is there realy a premium for them or just a lot of eager sellers?

I would think BIE hunters would have a lot from the 50s and be more eager to get the moderns, they're more tough to find.

Any thoughts?

Like you say Ed,
Selling with a lot of Hype. They are played up to where the buyer thinks it's a rarity worth paying for. If more people would get into the forums for discussion prior to jumping in and being separated from their money they might have a better chance at getting value for the price. I have nothing against collecting errors. I have quite a few and many errors are well worth collecting but some are just played up to much for the sake of a buck. I put back, for a reference, most that I find with interesting die crack, chips, lams, etc, but I don't believe I would go to the extent of buying one intentionally. I've not been a seller, pretty much buy, trade, and pull from circulation. Hopefully if I start selling I will not go down that same road.

Maybe some one could start a coins and currency anonomous. Laughing Laughing Laughing

One thing to add to this I think that those sellers that intentionally mislead or misrepresent what they are selling are few by percentages but they do seem to find those buyers that will pay high prices for their items.

Just my opinion and you did ask for my thoughts Laughing

Steven, you are right! They prey on the ones that know nothing about the items being sold, (I walked that road, several times, until I had enough to convince myself that they were crooks), and I was just another of the suckers, (ininiciated), that bought their lies. The junk came free. I believe anyone who decides to collect coins, or any other item that lends itself to mis-representation, shouls be required to join a forum, club, or any other information source, to be educated in the wiles of the unscrupulous sellers! I hate to see folks get ripped-off! I didn't like it, and don't like to see others getting it done to them.
Dick

steven,
Another question please I did find three bie cents in the first four rolls but also found three wheats with the 9 in the date filled in. If the nine is filled in, is this a cud or also a die break and 2nd question, if there is a die break between the B&E in the memorial cents why is it a IIB and what does IIB stand for ?
Sorry for all the stupid questions but I am still learning.
BRUCE.
