That's what I thought, when I saw it!. It could be a nice find. Seller says light scratches on obverse. but if it goes f-12, or even vf-20, it could be a good buy. Depends on what the final bid is.

Where would one go to find values for canadian coins. I ended up with quite a few in with some US coins I bought a while back but don't really know what they are worth. Like this one. It says 5 CENTS 1874. Got no idea how to put a value on it.

in my 2000 book...

There's 2 types of 1874 5 cents:
plain 4: vg8/$12 F12/$27
crosslet 4: vg8/$10 F12/$20

In 1875 there's just 2 types and both are rarer:
lg date vg8/$125 F12$175
sm date vg8/$80 F12/$150

Hopefully you got an 1875 too Smile

Steven, from the photo, I would go g-8, anthe values in March 2007 Coin VAlues, it is $22, with the plain "4", and $14. with the "crosslet "4". This issue has the CAnadian, Mexican, and Us coins. Be my guest.

Canadian standards are much stricter than US standards. The 1874 5 cent coin above would grade no higher than G4 on a good day.

Thanks, SMED, I'll keep that in mind! It was only a guess, on my part. I don't grade. My peepers "ain't what they used to be", just like the "old grey mare".
