is it just me or does it look like this has extra thickness to it?

Darrel, it sure looks like it to me. In fact, there might be a slight crease just south of the "high point" on the "6". Not the inside of the bend, just a hair below the middle.

You really have to be careful with the extra thickness on memorial cents. Some times, the die wear caused the letters/numbers to appear wider. This is still true today. A good example of what actual class 6 extra thickness would look like on a memorial cent is 1982P-1DO-001. Off hand Darrell, I would say this is not extra thickness caused by hub doubling on your coin. Of course, careful examination would be the key.
