Found this one just today. The 1 in the date has a line between the 1 and the 9. The 9 has some shelf like on the loop. Looks like some eye doubling, Look at the R and T in liberty and the L. I wish I could get the picture thing down better. Probably strike/machine doubling. Any ideas?

Cathy, it looks like a 1927, and shelf doubling on the nine. The eye too hard to tell. I just happened to have a bunch of 10's, 20's, and 30's in front of me, so I cheated!
BTW, don't plan on any sun-bathing next week!

Cathy, I can safely make two positive statements: 1. Youi have the coin in hand. 2. It makes good "cents" never to argue with a lady. It has to be what you say it is! Let's see what you say this time next week. OK?

By looking at the rim of the coin I felt it was wider than a 30's coin. So I think it would be in your range Cathy. 191 Does it have a VDB on the shoulder? If not it could be a pre 1918 Cent. If it does a 1918-1958. Looking again, the rim looks thinner now to me. Maybe your first guess was correct. 193
(Hopefully not a 1914-D. Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants!)

VDB is on the shoulder. Its a 30 something... like me!
Added later:
I now know the date with no doubts.
1936 P
I put it in a glass of mineral oil and could then see reminace the date better. I think it was a filled die.

Nice detective work, Cathy! I'll remember that "glass of mineral oil" trick. I may have use for it some day.

In the 1960's someone sold something to raise the date off worn dated buffalo Nickels. But the mineral oil would probably work them them also.

coop,
I have ended up with a few of those acid date buffs and had a few unreadable dates. I noticed that the acid dates looked disfigured and usually was very obvious that a drop was used only at the date. I thought I would do an experiment with vinager and this is one that was enhanced with it and not leaving that ugly mark aroun the date.
Still enhanced though
I'd rather know the date than not for my own satisfaction.
