Steven: Thanks for posting that. Being that bill had no security strip in it, I'll have to print up a few and go on a spending spree.... Hay I'm only kidding... Wink Wink Wink Wink

Neat find! Older notes are very few and far between in circulation, but there's not any real demand for them due to the minimal premium for a circ note. A coin store where I used to live would sell notes like that to me for face, but I was there all the time hanging out.

I collect star notes and silver certs. That bill looks pretty good for 57 years of circulation .....

I won a radio contest quite a few years ago when I correctly guessed what the average time in circulation is for a one dollar bill. (17-18 months)
This bill here has certainly not been circulated for a long time. My guess is that little Johnny found his Mom or Dads collection and made a withdrawal. Very nice looking FRN.

Bob, Thant's what I figure. Slipped from Pop's collection.

Cathy, I hang onto some of the star notes. I'm not real big on them though. I would much rather have the error bills that the star notes have been made to replace.

Odd, I got a 1950D $5 note in change at the parking lot of the convention center in Orlando last week. I kept it.

Not every (semi-)collectible in circulation has been ripped off and spent.

True Smed, but the comment was made as a joke. Even so, finding a bill from that date and in that good a condition hasn't been floating around in circulation for 56 years.

Cathy, I noted that you collect 'bills". I remembered that I have four silver certs., and I don't have any use for them. One is 1935 D, two are 1957, and the other is 1957 B, all blue seal. Want them?

Cathy, I have your address, and will send them to you. No cash desired, maybe some wheats, if you like. Be my guest.

sounds like a "done deal"!
They will be in the mail tomorrow. Wait until you receive , and evaluate them. Then you may do as you wish.
Yes, I like your "wheaties"! We are spending the kids inheritance, so the only thing they will get is a lot of Wheaties! I hope they appreciate them.
