Well this is a second challenge for me. I would like to know how to post picture's. http://image_url, what does that mean.
I'm not use to posting picture's from either my computer or from a alternate site. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Rhubarb

Yep... Sign up for a free phtobucket account, upload your pictures there. After it loads you will see 3 things below it that look like links and if you copy the bottom one and paste it right into your post on the site it will open automaticaly. If you use the top one then people need to click the link to see it.

Try that then while you make your post click the preview box below so you can see how it will look on the forum, when you like it click submit.

You first have to "upload" your pics to some host site (like photobucket or wherever).

Then, you come back here and write your message. When you want to insert a picture, you hit the "Img" button. Notice how it puts the letters "img" inside two brackets at the bottom of your message so it looks like this: "[img]". This is called a "tag". It tells the computer to expect to find an image on the internet. To the immediate right of the "" tag. The computer sees this and realizes that the "insert image" function is complete.

So to sum up, you hit the "img" button, type the address where the image is located, and then hit the "img" button again.

The same thing applies for "URL". You would use "URL" when you want to create a link that everyone can click on and transfer to a new webpage. Here's a page on the 1955 doubled die. I hit the "URL" button, typed in the website, then hit "URL" again.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1955_doubled_die_cent

I hope this helps.

Just adding...

If you take that 3rd link below your image on photobucket like I described above it will already include the img and brackets so you don't need to do anything except copy that 3rd thing into your post.

I just click the 3rd box below your image on photobucket so it highlights it, then hold down the ctrl key and press the C key... (that copies whatever you highlighted) then in your post where you want the image hold down the cntrl key and press the V key (that pastes the link you copied).

The easiest way, no typing links or anything Wink

I use www.freeimagehosting.ws to upload my photos onto the net. Once they have an address then I can post them to sites like this by putting the address between the ""(without quotes) buttons above the message box. I think there may be a size limit to you photo before it can be uploaded, so if it's not automatically reduced then you may have to reduce it with your own photo program on your PC. And if you want to post the URL of your image then just type it in - you don't need to use "URL".

Murphy, ED, Darrell, and Robert, I find all that you have said, and done , just about every way there is,to post an image!
Rhubarb, Those guys "know all there is to know" about this stuff! Funny, none of those things are what I do! I upload first, and when I want to post said iimage, I put a check the little square, just above the photo I want. Then down lower is a series of options . I select "the image on msg board", and click on it, then copy. THen when I am ready to insert it in the msg text, I "PASTE", and it it there! Looks like everyone has a way to get things done, and no two are alike!
Hope this helps you. I like things SIMPLE! Like me.....
Dick

ED, after putting a check in the box, (top line), I go to thebottom of the page to the selections, and click on the "img for msg board", which highlights it, and then "copy" to the browser. It will be there until you copy something else. Then Paste it where ever you want it.
