First off I would like to welcome you to the Forum. I have some 43 cent's and I have the same question. I honestly don't know how to tell but someone on this board does.

Welcome

Welcome Bob,
I've notice that they tend to be shinier, more grainy from whatever the coating went on top of like dirt, rust etc...
Some will get a bluish tint to them and the devices tend to look larger.
My opinion.

Signs of being repro would be: If it looks blueish... or it has some bumps that might be dirt or corrosion under the new coating... or the surface looks new but the cheek looks a bit flat from wear... or you see something that looks like mushy doubling near the date or mint it is the added plating which tends to accumulate there and look like doubling... or it lacks flow lines and looks sort of too shiny. Also most original ones have some light colored oxide growing so if it lacks that it was either stored well or repro so look closer if that's not there.

Hey haven't seen you on the forum, Welcome to you Very Happy

thank you guys for the quick response and thanks for the welcome. I just acquired 9 of these coins and it looks like a couple of them are reprocessed for sure. I also noticed the cheek and jaw line on a couple of the coins has a coppery look to them as well as having wear on them. Didn''t pay that much for them so guess 4 or 5 out of 9 is not too bad. Thanks again...bob

Threw this together real quick. Hope it helps. Not real good examples but they may show you what I mean.

Also the rim on reprocessed Cents may have dings on them that were plated over. If you suspect them being copper, a magnet will tell you the real story. Normal 1943 Cents Stick to a magnet even if they are plated with copper.
