Rice, a diamond and a duck on the reverse.

apparently designed as an advertisement for the state. Little relation to history. Similar to South Carolina and Illinois.

similar to most of them...ugly, cliche, and with little to no artistic merit.

There seems a small group of people who are designing these quarters. The states and the Mint is accepting these designs so the designers are just submitting more of the same. Its no wonder the designs are going downhill. Now that we are approaching the mid 19th century, the historical significance of these states will wane and we will probably see more of these advertising motifs. I dont expect to see any Civil War history portrayed on these, for example. All of the significant CW events are in states that were long established by the time of the Civil War and those states are already represented by quarters.

There's still West Virginia.

History is history even when it's not very old. Otherwise the US itself would be little more than a footnote in the history books.
