There is doubling in "In God W" the rest is worn. Am I seeing double's? My picture taking isn't the best.

When the light strikes the field next to a device on the coin it can appear to be doubling. Let's see what others say on this though.

Steven, check the "in GOD W". I note a possiblr MD , but I can't be sure because of clarity. The areas of the "G" don't show enough to give a "notch", or not. Keep your fingers crossed, David.

Looks like machine doubling to me. Remember that the main difference will be that doubled dies tend to have notching at the corners of the affected devices, while machine doubling never does. Also machine doubling tends to be flattened down while doubled dies have raised relief.

I just want to clarify "notching". It is a extension of the letter or number that has a extension from either side.

Steven: Very good job on the images. You've been experimenting with photoshop again. Of course it is always nice to have coins to get images of also.

Ok, maybe these pictures are clearer. There is doubling in the L next to the rim, the 9 in the date, and very minor on the reverse because of wear. I don't dis-agree with anyone that it may be MD. If it is, it is very excessive.

In these photos it is obvious that there is the flat shelf like appearance of machine doubling.

Ok, I had my doubt's to begin with. It never hurt's to try and find out.
When you refer to a shelf it's....90 degree's from the base. Or better yet a stair like effect, up-over-up. I'm thinking that's what you are saying.
Thank's Steven
David

Yeah David,
I guess kinda like steps without the offset or notching.
