The December Coin Values from CW has an article on state quarters and lists the numbers the "Big 3" have slabbed. The overall numbers really don't surprise me too much except for the PF70's for NGC. That, I ASSuME comes from that TV show (HSN?) that they slab coins for.

Coin World's original numbers are here http://www.boomspeed.com/smedley/sqorig.jpg and my calculations are here http://www.boomspeed.com/smedley/sqmod.jpg. Feel free to crunch and see what you come up with.

Interesting numbers. I would imagine that the PF70 numbers from NGC do indeed reflect HSN and the other clearinghouses. I could imagine these places submit sets by the case-full and some minor belmishes are overlooked. I doubt this bodes well for NGC over the long haul. It has always been my opinion that with the modern proof sets, they should chime out a little more like the following, straight out of the set:

PR67 - 25%
PR68 - 50%
PR69 - 15%
PR70 - 5%

The other 5% would be for flaws and the like to grade 65-66.

This is just my assumption based on very little real fact...just my knowledge of what I have seen from sets and what I know about the grading standards as set forth by the ANA standard.
