Looks like a normal coin to me. The letters get fatter with circulation and make them appear wider. The marks around the letters are die wear. The wear usually wears towards the rim. IE: The poor man's "So Called" doubled die.

DAvid,The lower ones looks like MD, to me. On the top,,the metal flow towards the rim, like Coop says, is a pretty good indication of die wear. BLNT!

Thank's Coop and Dick, the MD looked almost like a DD, oh well. Coop, did you order you a few container's? Dick, what does BLNT mean?
Thank's for your help

David: So far no on the containers. I'll run into them sometime and buy some then. I've got a big storage bin I'm filling right now. So I'm not out of space... well yet...
I don't think your coin is machine doubled, it is just worn on the outside edges of the letters/numbers. Die flow always starts in this area first, then the wear sets in on the outside edges of the devices.

Thank's Dick and Coop
I will be sending the coin along with another one that has the same feature's to BOB P. I didn't realize that MD was as strong as this coin look's. Can Maching Doubling Cross the center-line of a letter or Digit?
I may ask too many question's but it seem's to me that I have alot of MD question's. Thank's again for the post's. I'm a slow on learnig the different in's and out's of variety coin's since I don't have that much time avaliable to me and I have only started collecting in in 05. Thank's for your support and advice on my post's.

David,
It can look very nice, many real DDOs are very minor but they are real DDOs then you sometimes see MD or strike doubling that's easy to spot but still it's not anything good.
Here's a 1943 with a nice spread, right through the 1 and 9 it crosses the centerlines but still just a teaser Notice it has no notching and is shelf like. Also if you look close you can see the lighter image is made from metal smashed off from the primary image, the primary image gets narrower where that metal is taken from and the 9 shows that very well. Those are the ways to tell it's not a DDO.
But then the next thing you find might not be easy to see but might be a DDO

Thank's Ed,
Machine Doubling is, and, look's like a real DD to me. It come's in many disguise's. I don't know if this makes sense but it's hard to distingish between the different, could be or should be MD'ing. I am as you can tell a newbee, but this is tough.
Thank's David

David, BLNT, IMHO means in my humble opinion. It means Better luck next time! We tend to use a few achronyms here.

Thank's Dick, Acronym's are fine, just trying to learn them.
Ed, The 3 look's wider at the 3:30 position. Is this normal.
I do understand the post, but what I don't understand is the "Why" or can this happen in 1919.
I don't know or don't understand the exact thing's that took place in 1919 to relate to the find. I hope I'm not examining thing' too fine.
Thank's for the post Ed, It just take's me longer to understand the why's and how's than most people.
I may be looking at coin's from a different view than you are. I look to you and everyone else for advice.
David

I think the 3 is a bit wide there but nothing worthy of a listable thing plus when a minor variety also has a bad case of MD it sort of ruins it because it doesn't represent the variety well.
There are a few nice 1943 DDOs that are class 6 and just wide without any notching. I look for the curved spines on the letters that most class 6 DDOs have along with being wide.
See the 43-D below.
I'd say yes any year can have a lot of strike doubling, I've seen it on everything from 1909-2006.

I do thank you and everyone for there post's. I can't express my gratitude enough.
To everone that has expressed ther opinion's to my post's, Thank you.
I just want to learn.
