Here's a new quiz.

This is a proof cent. The limitation is just one viewpoint at this one. Try it... I don't think it os that easy but let's see who gets it right.

Question is what is this one, a DDO or a strike double Question

Ed,

The strike seem's to be on the west side of the coin and to the North. The 1st picture it appear's that it's rotated slightly to the east. As my guess(i have been wrong in the past) I would say it's a DDO. Now what do I win? Or what do I owe you? lol

well im no expert but it almost looks like strike doubling to me..the O and D in god appear to be alot more narrow at the top where it shows some doubling indicating the "doubling" is actually just smushed metal not a separate hub. The more i look at it the more i think die deterioration doubling because it looks like the D has doubling on the top and bottom which doesnt make sense to me. Again though..i am a noob and really know nothing and am probably reading too much into it but thats just my 1 cent about it.

BJ, after some very long looking, and a bit of doubt, say again, this is NOT a DDO. The triple view only confuses the issue, but, thanks to my having the Nvidia program, which allows me to magnify the view, as many times as is necessary to make a decision. MD! This after having to wait several hours to get my "eyes" back. Had to adjust my new band saw, (and it turns out it has a mis-aligned table, and will be returened), which left me "blind as a bat". This too, is "MD", or you might say it is a horse of a different color.

The answer:

It's one of the biggest DDO cents that exists 71-S 1DO-001P. Laughing

David was right Surprised if you look at the G the first weaker image is west and north of the stronger second image. I think the right way to describe it is CW and to the center because describing DDOs I describe the second image compared to the first. Aaron had good reasoning that would be right on almost all other coins but on this coin the motto letters are very thin on the top and wide on the bottom, (so it looks like metal is missing) if the die was not doubled the motto would have looked very narrow on the top of the letters. (like you see on some 69-72 cents)

Notice it looks about the same on the coppercoins pics:

Here's some more pics, opposite lighting on GOD helps show sep on the wider bottom of it:

I couldn't see it, until you put the "liberty" up, and the "Y" is a dead give-away! Just goes to show, "you can't win 'em all"! I don't peek at the site info. Hmmm, maybe I'll start! Keep up the "show, and tell", I enjoy it. Learn some, too! I was going to ask if it was class 2, and when I checked the site, it answered my question.
