Okay people, have any of you seen this before? This is being seen on a 1915-D Lincoln cent.
There is a raised area from the rim to the vertical of the L in LIBERTY. The raised area is also below the L of LIBERTY and extends over to the I, where it continues up form a peculiar shaped "W". It is not a die clash, strike through and if anything, it would be a die dent. But what would casue such a shape?

sorry to say i cant help you but that is quite fascinating, is that the only area like that on the coin...it almost looks like there is something going on with the B as well, could be my eyes though

It almost looks like some sort of ejection doubling BJ. I'm sure you have seen where the L or I looks like it is scraped somewhat...especially on older coins? I believe that is what you might have there...only to a more major degree. The continuation of that 'scraping' below the LI might just be further wear on that portion of the coin. It is intriguing though, but I don't think it is anything special...except to you

BJ, It's good to see that I'm not the only one posting pre 59 lincoln cent's. It look's promising to me.
