I really think we should all agree and that includes the government, that here in the USA we have and always did have pennies. The news media calls them pennies. All kids call them pennies. I call them pennies. Ever hear of a song called "CENTS from heaven? Out of the now 300,000,000 people in the USA I'd bet almost all of them call those things PENNIES. When I was a kid my mom wouldn't let me say AIN'T but now that is in the dictionary. She would on the other hand say here are some PENNIES.

The US Mint has never minted a domestic penny.
The grade of EF is commonly and mistakenly called Extra Fine; AU is commonly and mistakenly called Almost Uncirculated.
Common usage doesn't make something correct. These are simply more examples of what lassitude is doing to humanity.
But to be fair, I say penny most of time.

Well... I use the term cent when talking to collectors, and the term penny when talking to everyone else.
When I go to the bank and ask for rolls of cents, I always ask for rolls of pennies. I used to use the word cents for when getting rolls, but that somehow confused the tellers.

Yep!
Most $25 boxes say $25 PENNIES and the rolls say 50C PENNIES. But the mint bags said "$50 CENTS"
Sort of funny the rolls say 50C PENNIES (C stands for CENTS)
