I got a roll of the new dollars, and THey are HORRIBLE!
The first thing I'll do monday, is to swap them for a box of Zinc CULLS! I heard they were bad, but until I saw them, I had reserved my final comment: YUCK!

Welcome to the growing list of folks who aren't too thrilled with the new Presidential Dollars. I think the best part of the whole coin is the Statue of Liberty. The design is so simple that it is dull. I don't think these are going any where either. The mint assumed that the popularity of the State Quarters with a new design every 10 weeks would work with the dollars also. I don't see that happening.
By the way Dick...did you get the only box of Zinc culls? I tried to trade in my two rolls for a box of culls, but the culls were worth more!

Hmmmph! Must have been copper!
I agree the REV is worthy of their effort, but the OBV, GAD! It matches the new nickel with the 3/4 full face. It looks like Poor old Jeff had seen a ghost! Why don't they just leave well enough alone? The Ikes, I like, and save all I find,(in the banks, obviously), but the miss-be-gotten dollars, same shape, same size, and almost the same color. I get the SBA in rolls of quarters all the time. I also have all the SAC'c but only because I thinnk the baby is cute! The Mama looks better than a lot of those I have seen, a whole lot farther West, and still be in the US! And it only gets worse! Well, I'll make a couple exceptions, Japan has some beauties, as does Thailand. I wonder if we can recommend a candiditate for the REV of the Clinton dollar??? Any of the above would qualify, I'm sure1

I was not impressed either. John Mercanti designed the obverse and I cant believe how bad it is. He usually does good work. By the way I did buy one of those dollars without the edge lettering. I paid $150 at Harlan Berks in Chicago for a raw ms63 version. The website is www.harlanjberk.com and then you click on "US Coins" and then "See Recently Listed US Coins" There is also a "Presidential Dollar" link on that page.
They are going for over $200 on ebay. That is the only Dollar I have seen, so I dont know what the edge lettering looks like yet!

The only reason for me to get them is they'll be included in the mint and proof sets. Otherwise, forget it.

I saw one at a coin shop a few day's ago. I mentioned to the owner about the error's that were circulating and his eye's lit up. He pulled 2 out for me to look at, they seemed normal as far as the error's were concerend. The Plating on the coin's look's like my 6 year old's crayon coloring. It's not very concentric when it come's to the coating. It is wavy and look's like Crap. I won't buy one or even a roll.

They will probably become like beany babies. Intrest shown in buying and selling them, but no real long collector interest because of the materials used to make the coin. They should have made them just as a collectable is solid silver instead. Change the denomimation to $5. That may cause more interest. But do they ask me for my advise?? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I received one for free from a friend, it went into the oddball jar and I'll probably find it there in twenty years

Most other countries have the denomination written in that format, not spelled out. One complaint about US money from foreigners was they couldn't tell what was what because there were no numbers and the sizes didn't make sense.
