wishful thinking on a DD for this 1994 quarter? Im sure its probably MD but i have 2 1994 quarters that are identical in every form to this one posted. The U on "UNUM" the beak of the eagle, the end of the arrow cluster, and the branches on the right all show signs of some sort of doubling

how about this one...different coin btw.... IGWT and MM..MM in hand looks almost RPM with a CW rotation

Definitely Mechanical Doubling Aaron. If you look real closely at at a lot of the quarters in the 1990s, you will see other instances of this type of MD....Almost always in the same place(s).

Aaron, you will find MORE doubling on the old quarters, that "clean-cut"! Too bad it is all MD!

I did buy one of those Washington Dollars with the edge lettering missing. I got it form Harlan Berk's. $150. They have it marked as a 2007-D. All the news reports I have seen say the coins came from Philadelphia, but the dealer there swears the coins came from a D roll. The flip insert says 2007-D, so who knows.

Garry,
It has been confirmed that the 'Godless Dollars' have been found in both Philly and Denver coins. Look about 1/3 the way down on the CONECA home page, and you will see a few stories about it.

That article mentions Tom DeLorey looking at Denver minted smooth edge coins. I got one of those from him. He works at Harlan Berk.

Check out the Coneca link that Bob posted above.
It shows (in the lower section about D mint coins) how the real P mint godless dollars show the copper but the real D mint coins don't show the copper on the edge.

No coin after 1989 would have a RPM on it. If the mintmark is doubled it is usually machine doubling, except for 1996-D which is not a RPM, but a DDO. There may be others, but I'm drawing a blank right now.

Good point about no RPMs at that time. Laughing

If you look at the top of the N in IN you can see clearly that it's MD, see the top on the first vertical bar of the N, it is smashed by the MD and only a point is left of the top of it.
