I didn't see this one on the Site. It could be MD with wear, I just don't know. Also, does anyone know the exact number of Die's used on both Obverse and Reverse?

David,
It does look like MD...of that I am pretty sure. As far as the exact number of dies used, what specifically to you mean? How many were used for the Lincoln Cent for any specific year? How many for A specific coin? That type of info may be difficult to ascertain. The mint did put outan annual report each year that may have addressed that question.

Bob,

As far as the number of die's that were issued to each mint during these time periods. I didn't know if proper records were kept since: How did they get along without computer's?

As far as the total numbers of dies made/assigned to each mint, I am sure that was documented somewhere. How many of them were actually used is another question. Concerning the computers....I guess we are kinda spoiled now aren't we? Log books, and more log books, and somebody with good penmanship I guess.

David, consider this: In answer to your question re the number of dies, etc....before the computers. Until 1990, they hand-punched the MM's. Go back a whole lot of years when all the devices on the coins were hand-punched! And no computers, other than the "calculating" Gold-diggers that exist, to this day. Ladies, I am not referring to any of you! Really, just the ones I was so un-fortunate to marry, (three of them!) in the 40's, and early 50's! Then I met Betty, and my luck changed, and 52 years later, I'm still lucky.
