BobP and I have been working together on a new back-end application for adding data to the website, and it is now finished. I'll be the first to say that it's a really great enhancement to the administration of the site, and will afford us the opportunity to make a whole host of clean-up passes through the database that were not possible before as well as it will give us a MUCH cleaner application for entering new data to the site. It is unfortunate that for security reasons I cannot post the page to the public, because it sure is a neat application.

Anyhow, since we have this new "toy" we will probably be much more motivated to add new information to the site that previously was a hassle to do because the administration page was - well - buggy. I added a few dies to the site using this new tool a couple of days ago, and it sure is slick!

With this in mind, I proposed to Bob that we run a fun little contest to see who could add the most die information to the site within the month, possibly running the "contest" through next month as well. Bob is currently ahead 3 dies to my none, since the contest started today.

Stay tuned, and we'll be sure to update you on the progress of this challenge! Place your bets, please! LOL!!

Interesting...Bob and I are in a dead heat for the year with 19 each considering I added 9 new sets of photos today and Bob only made it to three new ones.

Since the beginning of the challenge, however, we are at Bob:13, Chuck:11, so I'm still a bit behind the power curve. I sure made up a lot of ground today, though.

Stay tuned!

Okay folks....for those pushing for me to win this little contest, I have a treat up my sleeve...check back on the site tomorrow to find out what it is! LOL!

For those pushing for BobP to win - well, what can I say?? LOL!

BTW, I discussed with Bob the possibility of running this contest through the end of the year and updating it here regularly. I fully expect that if we can continue at the pace we have gone in since the beginning of the year, we will easily reach 5,000 photos this year, possibly quite a few more. My personal goal is to see the site surpass 5,000 by my birthday in August, and for us to be closer to 6,000 by the end of the year. Time will tell.

Lol Chuck, you had me updating the update page hour past hour to see the new additions. I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out how much you have actually caught up.

Im actually hoping that Bob wins this contest, but its all for the good of the website, so it doesnt really matter who wins Wink

Ol' Chuck's trying to wear me down....(and he's doing a good job of it!) Just to piggy back on what Doug and Gabe has said, this friendly little contest really does benefit the site in the long run, and Chuck and I have both discussed that in depth.
I can't compete with Mr.Chuck putting in 9 varieties a day, but I realize he can't keep up that pace either. I will continue to add varieties as I get them. Chuck and myself both have extensive collections, and there are lots of varieties that have not been attributed anywhere.
Mr Chuck was nice enough to send me lots of rolls to go through and there is lots of stuff I am finding that will be added to the site as time goes on. With every step we take, the site gets larger and better than anything out there. I am hoping that Chuck and myself can continue this furiuous pace, and ask all of you to take a look each day and see what you think. Suggestions are welcome. This site and all the work being accomplished is for YOU..the collector. I do what I do because I love the hobby (not because Chuck pays a lot Confused ).
And to Mr. Chuck directly.....Good stuff! Let me know when you plan on going to sleep so I can do something!! Laughing

Okay Mr. Bob...I'm done for the day, but have more ready for tomorrow. Granted I can't keep up this pace as busy as I am, but I plan on getting far ahead before slowing down. Six more additions this afternoon puts us at Bob: 13, Chuck: 24. Just to let the competition see a couple of cards in my hand, I have another 10 ready for tonight, which will go on tomorrow's date since I will have to get to them after midnight.

I also have Thursday to work on more before the weekend hits and the deadline for the mini-competition draws to a close.

My plan is to attempt to include information for at least 500 die states by year's end, and at an average of 2 per day I should easily exceed this. If we can both keep up that pace (which isn't all that demanding as long as we have the material in-hand) we should be looking at 5,000 photos on the site before the close of summer, and close to 7,000 by year's end. Things in my life will be changing dramatically over the next five months - after I graduate college and move to working from home full-time, I should be able to keep up with a 5-10 die per day pace...that could possibly finish ot my collection by yer's end with over 10,000 photos on the site. That would be a really good thing....only time will tell.

Way to go Chuck!! Another 10, then another 10? That's cool. Just to let you know that I don't go down without a fight, I too have some impressive news....I have 1 (ONE) to add tonight. Don't slow me down now...I'm on a roll Laughing
Really Chuck, that's great. I can't match that, but I can certainly enjoy seeing the progress being made here.
