This is my first post, so I hope this is worthwhile for everyone. I brought a roll of Adams P mint home and found the usual die cracks and cuds, with incuse up, then down, but no clean or doubled.
But I did notice that the incuse on some of the uncirculated was different. It is flattened inside, and not beveled, and has a distinct outline. I believe that this is the Proof incuse lettering on unc. coins, so I am submitting some to NGC tomorrow. I will have about 33 or so, it appears. Can anyone comment on how the proof lettering looks different?
I am photographically challenged, but I am gonna post a pic with a little help from a local camera buff. Finally, I think I will have a very special 1970-s DDO cent to post soon, so stay tuned.

Welcome again Notabot!
I hope your 70-S is the big one, if it is you made a super find!
Hey on your Adams dollars I had recently read on the CU forum that other people noticed 2 types of edge lettering. They think it probably is the die state on the die used (3rd die or whatever the mint uses) to do the edge lettering. My thought is I'd only send one in to NGC so if they won't note it you aren't paying to certify lots of normal ones. Check out this thread to the CU post about it. Does that look like what you see?

Yes.. there are 2 types of incused letters for the John Adam dollar, and maybe even for the Washington. I searched through 5 rolls of them, and found plenty of both types of lettering. Since both are extremely common, I dont suspect that any will be worth much over face.

Welcome Notabot! No questions are not without merit. Even it someone hasn't thought yet on those lines, they will know the answer before they find any anomoly. If no question is asked no answer may be found yet. It's a collective forum with members in different areas. A heads up for anything is a great teaching aid. So feel free to ask, cause the only dumb question is the one not asked.

But indeed a large date proof 66. I guess that's some consolation. Sorry no pic, hope to master pics in the future.
