The Democratic candidate for President, and why?

I'll answer the second question first.

No.

Now the answer to the first question is moot. LMAO!

But... I don't know who it's gonna be. Kerry seems to be doing well enough that the others won't catch him, but we'll just have to wait and see how the primaries in the south go. Dean shouted and emoted so badly that a lot of people now look at him as a joke. Who wants a president that can't keep his (public) emotions in check?

I agree on both accounts, actually. But to tell the truth, I have a bit of angst over Kerry being the front runner for the Democratic party - there are enough people around the country dissatisfied with Bush's performance record that a good Democrat could beat him....and of all of the clowns in the circus Kerry has the brightest nose. Dean is a joke even to the rest of the clowns.

I agree that a good Democrat could probably beat him.

But look at the parties; Dems started with NINE major players because they couldn't get together as a party and do what's best (in their opinions) as a group. That's going to cause a lot of Dem votes to go to the Republicans because those Dems will be voting against the guy that beat their candidate.

I don't think there's much chance for a third party, they would already have to be out there campaigning, and I haven't heard anything at all about them - no independents, socialists, communists, reformists, libertarians, green-peacers, etc.. all the talk is of the Democrats and the Incumbant.

It makes no difference at all!!!! It's big $$$ and pacs controling everything regardless of their "sincere" rantings and promises which = the middle class gets screwed. Sorry to say I couldn't care less as campaign rhetoric and promises are typical BS! It's just substistuting one predetermined candidate against another and allowing big money to tell us who won for their long range benefit in the "one world/global economy". Politics is the legal pinnacle/standard of directed theft on behalf of the taxpayers to further corporate endeavors. America was once concerned with it's citizens and now it's corporate money and what will affect them globally. Screw our citizens earned pensions and ANY hope of decent health care without paying gargantuan extra profits to the plans we were promised and paid into for years. Bush, Kerry, etc. I could care less! America will be downgraded to third world standards it's just a matter of which "group" has elected control. Sorry for the rant but I'm confident politics in America cares damn little for the people and primarily for the global/corporate profit.

I want to apologize to everyone here for the previous nonsensical tirade. Coming home from work where you were told you'll be downsized in the next 12-18 months with insurance cut in half after 30 yrs. put me in a rather stupid frame of mind. Again my apologies for misusing the board.

How true you are Smed! I boo hoo'ed and got irate but upon rational reflection I'll be retiring at age 53 after 31 yrs. service from BPAmoco with a decent nest egg/account to invest. Thankfully, I have an older brother (retired Navy aviation) who came over, and "stood on my toes & grabbed me by the collar" and reminded me how fortunate I really am. No matter the situation it could always be worse!

I can name you many times before in American history, were the United States has found themselves in a much bigger hole than the one we are now because of the Second Gulf War and the economy.
To think for a second that American politics are full of corruption is just consence. There are countries in the Middle East, Asia and as close as the country of Cuba which would give their life and more to be given the oportunity Americans take for granted. People go to war to have the right which many Americans throw away, the right to vote. Never the less, these people always have an opinion about political views and ideas and always find a way to critize the democratic form of governing. If one chooses to not participate as citizens in public elections, that person has just lost their right to complain about the politcal status of his nation.
Many people critizes Bush, and I see this a lot, Bush this, and Bush that. Well, if America is that great evil in your eyes, take a boat and row to Cuba, you might like it their better.
I still find it amazing that people can look back at history and to the present world today and complain about American politics. If you think the American political system is corrupt you have no idea about what does in South American, Asian and European countries. Even in Puerto Rico (territory of the US) corruption is many times worst than in any state of the Union. Where does tax money go? They go to the roads that you travel, to pay for the free education, and to pay for public services.
I dont know if people rather live in a communist government instead, were the government controls all of your earnings. The only thing that I have to say to those people is to look at communist govenrments in the past and look at them now. The USSR didnt last more than 90 years, North Korea is in economical and political crisis, China has been in political chaos for a while, and Cuba has its days numbered as a communist nation. Venezuela, with its communist President, is in the brink of bloodshed and possible Civil War. Panama's dictator came down in 1989. Do I have to go on?
If I believed that the American system is corrupt, and that the govenrment is going to fall and the nation is going to become 3rd world, I would be taking a plane to France and taking everything with me. After all, I would think my personal and economical life were in danger.

My family came to America leaving their whole family in Cuba, some have been executed and some have been imprissoned. If heard the stories of horror from my family about what tragedies they suffered to come to this nation which some people tend to critizise non-stop.

Get what I mean? If you dont like this country, then leave, and try living somewere else were speaking your mind can get you carcerated or executed.

Gabe I agree with most of what you say. I am a vet. and have seen much of the world while in the Navy. I realize we have it far and above any nation I know of. Part of what makes us great is we can say what is on mind without much fear of reprisal. I voted for Gore in the last election. Bush is my president and we work from there. I do no agree with the reasons he did many things but he is at the helm and I must support his actions.Hindsight is always 20/20. Joe

I sincerely appreciate your opinion Gabe and first hand insight on what occours outside this country and just how good we have it here. Yes, I ignorantly bitched and complained but some of us here do that on occasion because we tend to take for granted what we have. I'm not the first nor will I be the last individual to make such an error in judgement be it politics, numismatics or whatever. I previously admitted my error, embarrassment and publically apologized here. I can't do more than that.
