BJ,
It looks great!!!
I looked through quickly and it shows that you put a lot of effort into your files. I am sure that I will be spending much more time in them to try and identify the many trail dies and wavysteps that I have been hanging onto.
I am sure your work will be appreciated and respected by many, me for one.

That is a lot of info and great work!

You'll still be busy as it grows, there's more out there.

Thanks for sharing the link. Smile

This is an outstanding piece of work. I have always had trouble understanding the wavy steps. The depth of information in your work is a great way to learn and be able to recognize them. Someone posted a message asking for a good topic to write a book on. I think you just did it.

Absolutely Wonderful. I'm going to take some time to read and study. Thank you for sharing this with us and for all your hard work. Like rollmeupabe, I too have had trouble fully understanding the wavy steps and appreciate this work. Undoubtly this study will probably be the standard by which many future studies will take precedence from.
Thanks again,
Rock

Very well done BJ. Congrats for making it widely available to everyone, and thanks to Frank for allowing it on his site.

Hey BJ,
I am glad I was able to find this older post. I have not really looked into trails or its study, but do remember your interest. I was looking through a roll of 2007P Lincoln's and noticed this coin. It shows nice trails in a general SW to NE direction. What caught my eye on this was the hint at some column trails running S-SE into the steps. Any ideas on this one or am I off base with this. Let me say that I know very very little about trails. Sorry in advance about the pic quality, I am only using a QX3 here.
Thanks,
John

Hey BJ,
No problem at all. Shoot me a message with your mailing address and I will get it out to you. If this isn't worth a gazillion dollars and you collect them, it's yours. Smile
Best,
John

BJ, for the time being, just kit the "back" button, abd do it from submit, or reply. I Havwe had problems in the PM, and got around them this way: ''''save " it, and go to the "saved box". It works fine that way

Hey BJ,
I am not sure if you remember, but a while back I posted a coin in reference to the 2000 doubled beard coin you posted. It showed some raised West-East lines behind, and in the jacket. Well I was looking through some 1995P rolls and I came across another coin with the same raised die lines. I was not looking at trails when I first noticed these raised lines. This coin also shows some nice trails running N- N/W from LIBERTY.
This coin also shows some signs (hard to see without the right angle) of the same lines coming off the beard under the ear. I will send this coin to you along with the 2007.
Hope this helps.

Below are some images I have from when I first noticed these raised lines. I believe this was a 95P also, and I know that I have several examples of this (where-I have no clue...) These coins may also show trails but I can't say I remember either way.

Fascinating. The short raised lines emerging from the back of Lincoln's lapel and collar are strongly reminiscent of the "extra beard". It may be time to reassess the attribution of the latter as a doubled die.
