Don't know if anyone outside Chicago heard about the storms we have been having for few days now. Constant rain, trees down, smashed cars and houses, high winds knocking everything all over the place. Power lines down all over and hundreds of thousands without power. Where I live not to much damage but lots and lots of water in the streets. I've got a generator so just in case I don't want my basement to flood. If there is power failure I will use it for the sump pump, refrigerator dehumidfier, fans, TV and a light of two. The dehumidfier and sump pump are mainly to protect my coins. The heck with everything else. Of course cold beer is an essential in any disaster. Most valuable coins are in a safe deposit box and hopefully that bank is above flood level.

Sorry to hear about the bad weather in the upper mid west. Ths has been a strage year for almost everyone. I wish some of the rain that has fallen up there would come down here to the Gulf Coast of Florida. Normal rainfall year to date for here is about 45 inches through August. So far this year, we have received 17 inches. That, coupled with the consistent heat indexes of about 110 degrees has made it miserable.
I am hearing you folks are about to get a break from the rain up there, and the temps should be nice too. Be sure to check on your coins as soon as possible. I hope they are OK.

Appears the weather almost everywhere has been horrible. The rain in our area has stopped for now. More expected today. Chicago land is noted for Rivers through the suburbs. Many are flooded well over the normal. A place called Desplains is constantly in the news showing flooded houses, streets and the River. Roads along the River in the suburbs are constantly under water. Trees down in roads, on houses, on cars, many hundreds of thousands of people were without power. After several days now most power restored. The thing that gets me is when the news media interviews a person that says this has happened to them many times, why don't they move away from the River????
