What Type of "D" is this?

I'm assuming this coin was hit at some point in it's life, during time and general use the evidence wore off. What are your thought's.

I agree. A pretty obvious hit to the mintmark. You can find coins with hits on any part of design that makes for some pretty interesting stuff.
