thought best to ask the experts.!

CP,
I believe what you are pointing out on LIBERTY is damage from circulation with the exception of the E which looks to be a master die issue. I have seen that on numerous cents in the 50's.
The 9 in the date appears to have had a die chip creating the filling of the loop.
Some one else may come along here and be able to explain better than me but I'm trying

Same as what Steven said.
In CDs book (I think the older book page 160) he has a pic of a 55-D with the same master die damage on LIBERTY.

Thanks guys.. I will add it to my error collection labeled as master die damaged,it will make a good reference coin.
BTW, looking forward to reading Chucks book.! but In the mean time, I built the scale decribed here in one of the posts and im in the process of weighing the thousands of lincolns accumulated over the past couple months since I started picking. The scale trick is really a neat idea.!
It also keeps me out of the dog house since Im no longer dropping coins on the wifes antique table.
Thanks,CP

CP, It is obvious, you are a fst learner! Ypu learned two things today: Use the little scale, or balance, AND, don't frop coins on the wifes antique table!
And I might add, that the thing you see on the "E", looks to be MD, and I don't mean Macular Deterioration, An eye condition). I have a batch of the '55-D with varying degrees of the die chip , filling the loop on the "9", and also on the "5", as well.

Most people just use it to see if their 82 cents are zinc or copper.
If you're looking for those super rare transitional errors like a post 82 copper or pre 82 zinc you might look at the adjacent year or 2 or 3. BUT the transitional ones I've read about were 1989-D and 1990-D (on old copper planchets) so you might look at those.
Check this out for info on them:

CP, there is very little I could add, to what ED has said. Good luck in your search.

CP,
Tell here that antique furniture with the little hits and dings gives it character. Some new furniture is beat up in that way to give it the antique look. If she buys that let me know and I may use that excuse myself

CP,
I'm not sure it will work but you might be able to just wait until you are going to sleep and start it downloading and save to a file. Then read it offline.
I have the same problem, I'm often on my home dialup and it crawls
Summary of it:
They found 89-D and 90-D cents that are copper (not copper plated zinc), if you weigh your 89-D and 90-D cents you might find one and they're worth a lot.

You may want to tell her you'ld be glad to fix that antique table. You'll just say you'll take all those cent coins, glue them to the top, cover with clear plastic and there will now be an antique coin table. That should get you off that project.

Wow, that would be beautiful wouldn't it.!
I really dug myself in deep on this one.! I suggested that a Pro should do the job, I even went as far as convinsing her & guess what, I talked her into it.! The only problem here is I got stuck with the bill.!! There goes a few Morgans.. Valuable lesson
