Found this one last night.! I managed to get a few pic but they are not the greatest.. Anyhow this Lincoln appears to be a 2006P-1DO-016 Class 9, However, the markers do not match.! Could this be a later die state or a different variety? ( noted the crack on the skull to be a chip) Or possibly Im seeing things again I can get a better pic of Liberty/die markers..
Thanks,CP

I think this may be another die variety. The date doesn't look the same to me. Not sure. Nice trails.
wavysteps may know of this one.

CP, I don't recall seeing anything like this, on the 2006 photos on the site. You may have found a new variety! Those trails are nice. Even I can see them, (in the photo). I wonder how many of those are running around, and how many of us have wondered, Why didn't I "wobble" those '06's I had?

CP, I think you're right that it's the later state of 1DO-016.
I found one of these (maybe slightly later state than yours) and the doubling is hard to see (barely shows on T of LIBERTY)but the trails show well. I sent it to Bob and he added the hair crack to the photos. Yours has what looks like the beggining of the same crack forming.
On that later state it has a different reverse (so you won't see the reverse markers on the site) but it has a few new obv markers. You might look along the vest in line with the top of the 2 for a tiny die dot (in the field near the vest below the tie) or another tiny dot in the field in between the tip of the nose and the rim (middle of the field).
Does it have either of those dots?

I dont see any dots but I added another pic for you to have a look see.. I can get better shots tommorrow if that dont do it. BTW, where did you get the info on the LDS? I thought I remember seeing it in the encyclopedia, but when I returned I didn't see it anywhere. Anyhow,do you think maybe the small hit above the 2 has disguised the dot??
Thanks,CP

The original coin he listed was an earlier state without the hair crack. I sent in a later state with the crack (still MDS but later) and Bob added the photo showing the hair crack. I found several in slightly different stages of the crack growing. It looks like yours is in between the listed one and the ones I have since the crack is smaller.
Yours might not have the dots since it must be slightly earlier since the crack is smaller. I still think it's the same 1DO-016. The trails match and they are a marker.
Also look at the crack starting on yours, there's 2 hair waves above it and the crack merges into a 3rd hair wave. Notice on my coin the crack is widest just in the area where it shows on your coin. It makes me think that was where it showed first then grew beyond that.
Here's the dots and crack:

Here's what I mean't about the crack. Notice how this section looks like what your coin has. It just grew as time went but the part yours has looks like it matches this:

The crack does seem to match.! however, I can now confirm that none on the dots are present..
Ed, If you would like to take a look at the coin personally, I would be willing to send it to you..
FWIW, if I find any coins that need to be documented on the site, just let me know.! I would'nt mind at all to contribute to this "great" site..
Anyhow, WOW.! I found my first DDO
This one came from the Large (already searched twice) accumulation that ive had since I started picking, No telling what else I missed.!
Thanks guys..

What I do is if I find a possible new variety post them and if it seems they are new wait until you have a few and see if Bob thinks they're listable send him a small group and you might get a new listing.
I keep minor ones in flips but if I find a good one I put it aside and about once a year I send some for grading and if I find more than one of the same sell or trade so I get something new without spending money.
On these 1DO-016 coins I had also missed them but I had seen the hair cracks and put them aside then I noticed trails and saw they matched 1DO-016. I think the doubling is so minor it might not not been listed if it did not also have trails but the combination of a minor DDO, nice trails plus a nice crack makes it an interesting one.

Thanks for the info, I placed the DDO in a 2x2 & marked the variety on the holder. It sure looks lonely there all alone.! With a little luck it wont look lonely for long..
Thanks,CP
