There is no 1917 DDO Die-2 (or Die-002).
When people call a DDO or DDR something like Die-001 they are using a Coneca number. (if you said 1DO-001 it's Coppercoins number)
For 1917 there is only one listed by Coneca and it is Die-001, same thing listed here with Coppercoins # 1DO-001 same thing listed in the Cherry Pickers guide as FS-013 (new FS # scheme FS-101).
As far as I know nobody lists a second DDO for 1917.
If you see one on ebay listed as die-2 it probably is a seller trying to sell a strike double non variety.
If you find a new variety then Coppercoins might list it as 1DO-002 or Coneca might list it as Die-002.
See Coneca listings for 1917:

See Coppercoins litings for 1917:

now i know why i assumed there was a die 2.. all the slabs/books say DIE 1 - if there are no other dies, why specify?
rhetorical q i guess.. a gripe for the most part
brag: i have 4

I guess they're assuming another doubled die variety could get discovered later. There are several years where more varieties get discovered years later.
4 1917 doubled dies are a good find! How did you do that?
I have only found one 1917 DDO, it was among some ugly cents and had a scratch but I was happy to find it. Some DDOs like the 1917 and the 1936 DDOs are not that rare in low grades but high grade examples are worth big $!!!!

MS grades are HUGE.. wasn't the MS66 '17 ddo in the Close to Perfect collection the star of the set? $50k+ i think..
anyway i work at a coin shop, whenever wheats come in i always end up with them.. the owner can't be bothered with em. he actually had a 30 year stock pile when i started. i'm always cherrypicking, so good things tend to come up..
i've looked at TONS of '17's.. found 3. got 1 in a slab lot i bought on ebay just the other day, ANACS VG cleaned. the ones i found are all low grade.. i sent the best one in to PCGS and got a VG8.
great variety, one of my favorites..
