Thanks for the post, been waiting for a pic of these.

With the log cabin, the mint can make some "blob job" coins masquerading as art, and noone will ever be able to tell the doubled dies from the first strikes. Laughing

MOst of the comments below the article had nothing to do with the design changes, instead they were either complaining or hailing the lack of the Motto on the coin, which is totally unfounded. The Motto is on the obverse. Maybe the article is too basic, but there was no mention of whether the portrait was going to be recut to the detail in the original design or not. I am more interested in that than the reverse designs. I would be content going back to the Wheat reverse.

The comments were foolish.

I thought they were going to make a cent in 2009 with VDB on it?

What about getting rid of the cent or changing the content to something cheaper?

Sounds a bit nutty, maybe a good cut off date for collecting cents and just focus on pre 2009 cents.

Oh that $5 bill looks funny with that purple 5 in the corner.

I like the first two images of young Lincoln. But the outhouse reverse does nothing for me. Scrap the cabin and re-cyle the paper. IMOHO

The comments were kinda moronic.. most people complaining were complaining because of the lack of the motto on the designs. The article said that the current obverse design would remain, meaning that the IGWT would remain on the obverse.

Do any of those people even look at their 'pennies'?

Whatchu talkin about, outhouse, and we all know who the original design belongs to, to, when I post it here back in 2005, a lot of you said it looked better then that trolley car they had on there now. Do your homework and go back and find my original post of the piture of the reverse design I did, and you tell me that some ratbasturd didn't steal it. Just because he change a few thing around don't mean diddly do, and I took the picture of there cabin from the right design and superimposed it over my design, and you know what, it fit to a T. I' ve got a giant red ass and this is not going to go down without a fight..................................

i really don't care what they do with em.. integrity and artistic merit went out the window decades ago, so whatever.. it's all garbage if you ask me.

all i'd like to see in 2009 is the end of 1 cent coins completely, and a very limited edition of a 2009 S VDB type coin.

close the book.. and then eventually allow them to be melted - which would create an interesting situation for collectors.

Rather than making the whole cabin to show his early home, why not come closer and show an open door with Lincoln readying in the light from the fireplace. He is known more for that, rather than the cabin itself?
