Haven't been able to place this one. 1951 D with a faint but full second mintmark NE. It is strongest at the upper serif. Your opinions are appreciated.
I looked in Wiles "The RPM Book" 2nd edition and your picture looks like RPM#22 in his book. Your coin looks to have a bumpier surface (new technical numismatic phrase) but the shape of the mint mark, placment in relation to the date and the location of the secondary mintmark all look similar.
Thank you rollmeup. I do own a copy of that guide but it is in a different part of the country than me right now and the coneca marker list was not helpful.
There is a marker of a die chip in the mint mark listed. I'm missing #22. I have #21 then #26. Nothing in between so I'm no help.
rollmeupabe: bumps.. LOL
Those are die scratches. But there is a strong one that matches on your right hand lower corner image and the RPM book show one there. So your coin is fresher than the one pictured in the book. Nice find. _________________ Richard S. Cooper
