You go to McDonalds and have each kid pay separately -- to maximize the amount of change you will have to search.

BTW: I did that tonight and found a nice BU 2004P 1DR-012.

The total comes to $5.02 and you have a $20. You remember to forget about the bulge of change in your pocket -- and ignore the give-n-take tray that has the 2 cents you need to get back $15 even.

My kids got these dollar sized "pirate medals" made out of some aluminum like cheap stuff that come in different denominations....$1, $5, $10 etc....that they throw in the pool where they sink. The object of the game is to take turns diving to the bottom of the pool and see who gets the most "money" after his/her dive.

Not so fast.........................

Good old dad had to give all these cheap pirate metals a quick look over to see if any had any doubling or other..."issues"...

It really is a disease..... Embarassed

My wife fits that ID to a tee! You should see her purse. she lets me go thru it, about once a month, and there is usually $40-$50.00 in change, all denominations. I have to BUY anything I CAN USE!

Got no problem doing it over here in T.O. Only problem is that only about 5-10% of the cents are Lincolns. Takes a lot more boxes to build up a nice little hoard to search.

It's good to see that I'm not the only one with this affliction. I'm lucky because my wife tolerates jars and bags of change all over the house. She's also knows to never use change when making a purchase and will carry around 5 pounds of coins in her purse so she can bring them home for me to look through. The first RPM I found, a 1985 D, was from change that she just got from McDonalds. She has been on two mainland trips for business and has sent me rolls of pennies from chicago, boston, and winston-salem. It' good to look through rolls with "P" coins in them and so far I have found a copuple of DDR bars and 2 1998 wide AM coins!

The thread, here fits me to a "T"! I am in the last stages of my four boxes for Chucks project. I got 8 boxes from AZ, as a birthday gift grom my siblings, when they came for a visit. The best thing of it is that I get to go thru them, checking for varieties, etc, AFTER I recover from my broken back! It is nioce to see you guys finding nice things. I had finished the two, but thoughtChuck might want a set from North/central AZ, and volunteered another pair.
Nohea, don't they sell boxes there in Hawaii? I can understand your not finding "P"'s, but there should be plenty "D", and a few "S"'s. We don't get many "P" in AZ, because the "Pony Express riders don't like the extra weight." They don't like to swim across the river, to bring them to CA, either.

When I asked my bank about getting a box for the cent project, they said that it probably would be a solid date box. That would make the sorting easy, 5000 2007 D cents! So I have been going to different branches and getting 5 to 10 dollars of rolls. I'm slowly working my way through them but nothing interesting to report yet.
