Though I feel somewhat dirty talking about a Morgan dollar on this website ( Very Happy ), NICE coin.

I have wondered about these coins, how secure is the NGC grade on the slab?

On the reverse the label says:
Quote:
Notice: no warranty or guarantee is made with respect to this coin or any services supplied in connection with this coin. NGC hereby disclaims and implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose, any implied guarantee or grade or authenticity, and any other implied warranty or guarantee.

In other words, "It ain't secure, we ain't guaranteeing crap 'cause some doodoo-head might try to scam somebody by switching coins/labels."

smed:

Does the NGC disclaimer mean that it is physically possible to slip the grade from one coin to another? In which case, of what use is an NGC grade on the coin?

Not as such, but it may be possible to remove the tape in such a way that it's not ruined. I would imagine that it contains something to let you know that it's been tampered with. There's a little piece at the top and the big one at the bottom with the grade.

Looks good Smed! I had no idea they would slab GSAs right inside the GSA holder. Learn something new every day!

NGC's been doing that for a while... not sure if anybody else does it.

The store has 3 more plain GSA's for sale and one that just came back from NGC. I'm thinking GSA's would be a good investment, but don't have the money right now. (well... i do... but i don't want to spend it)
