Yes, it is the one found by our very own Murphy, however, I am surprised that Coppercoins number is not present. Lets face it, it was the starting point for this great die !!!!!!

Truthfully, I forgot to include CC's listing number to the auction.
However, it is your tone that I don't appreciate. It infers there is some kind of competition. Sorry, I'm not into competition. I try to help collectors and promote our great variety hobby by sharing information.
Courtesy would have been at least contacted me first about your concerns instead of airing this in an open forum. You lack that etiquette.
Good Day,

I agree with Gary on this that it's up and up auction.
I also must agree with Mr. Neff also. This no doubt is a great find for Murphy, it does deserve the resepect of Coppercoin's signature. I do think B.J. is just as Reputable person as any other Numismatic as anyone.
I do now know who ddorpm is now. He also get's my respect for I am only a beginner in this hobby. The auction has 9 day's left. My dealing's with Ebay are you can edit your auction in certain area's.
I do not feel that there is a competition here on this forum for everyone is here to learn.
I respect everyone here on this Forum and I would hope everone else feel's the same as I do.

I was surprised to scan down about 3/4 of the way down the post and see my 1982 ddr on the cover of his online magazine.

Very nice coin indeed.
What really surprises me is the fact that 8 days are left, and the coin already is at $455. I wonder how much the coin will sell for. Maybe in the thousands?

The reason why Coppercoins reference file number was not included in the auction stems from an extremely delicate and private matter. Being of a private matter, that is why I was not at liberty to explain on this open forum for anyone to read and is also why I said it would have be courteous to directly contact me if one had any concerns or issues with me. Bob read my reply and contacted me directly. I explained privately to him why CC reference file number was not included in the auction.
Rest assured, I fully support the hard work and dedication that Bob and Chuck do for our hobby and the many hours of devotion they put in providing Coppercoins Web site in promoting our great hobby. Take for instance, my latest online issue of DVN magazine highlights your very own 1982 1c Major DDR that was first reported on Coppercoins Web site and subsequently also published in Coin World. Chuck was extremely gracious in allowing me to use his photos in reporting this wonderful discovery for my magazine. I acknowledged with full credit to Chuck, I acknowledged the discoverer of the variety, and I acknowledged Coppercoins web site in my article of the current issue of DVN magazine. In a past issue, the 2006 Major DDO was also published in my magazine acknowledging full credit to Robert Tingle as the discoverer of this important variety.
I have offered a free, permanent, no cost whatsoever, full page public service announcement (PSA) to Bob and Chuck anytime they want it placed in my magazine in promoting their Coppercoins Web site. They can put anything they want on that page to promote their site. You may have also noticed I also provide free, full page PSA for CONECA and NCADD variety clubs in my magazine as well. I have made these offers as well to the ANA and other clubs for promoting their organizations.
All I ask is, before one makes a snap decision, please contact me directly about your concerns than just in an open forum.

Very well said Billy. I can assure you that everything Billy has said above was communicated to me when I contacted him about this issue, and I totally agree with his rationale. As he states, the reasoning for not putting a coppercoins cross reference in the auction is of a private matter and can not and will not be discussed in a public forum such as this.
For those of you who have not noticed directly, there has been tremendous progress in the last year or so where all of the primary attributers for each of the clubs/sites have put their opinions and expertise on the table TOGETHER to discuss issues relating to varieties. This has brought about unprecedented unified actions such as debunking certain varieties, or agreeing on attributes on others. Whomever is the first to attribute a new variety, we normally work closely together so that the variety is recognized by all parties. This is a good thing, and only strengthens the hobby as a whole. The idea is to get the word out to everyone so that no matter who is your 'favorite' or primary attributer, they have the info you need to properly attribute your coins. An auction such as the one Billy listed is just that...his auction. What people choose to put in it is what they are paying for and I have not heartburn with that unless the information is inaccurate and/or fraudulent.
Coppercoins has indeed been getting plenty of publicity, and now, most collectors know who we are. That is important, and if you've noticed, we have received our publicity in Billy's on-line DVN magazine, as well as CONECAs forum and other avenues. In addition, we list as many cross references as we can get a hold of in our own listings. I really believe the days of believing in a single reference system is over. When multiple attributers list a variety, it means the coin has been scrutinized by the 'experts' in the hobby who agree on its merits. You must also realize that coppercoins only deal with cents, whereas the others deal in all denominations. In that aspect, we are small, but what we have to offer on cents is BIG...and most people know it. Thanks again Billy for your post.
