I received the 1943 DDO from Fred Weinberg today. It looks AU, no corrosion, little wear, still some lustre left. Here are some pics:

Umm, Garry...I don't believe that's a doubled die. It looks like machine doubling. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like a closer look at that one. I know Fred personally, so there wouldn't be any problem getting your money back if I took a look at it first.

Im laughing right now. Laughing Another adventure with a raw coin. I will send it to you today or tomorrow. It is definitely the same coin as in the ad. The spots on the reverse are on my coin. Maybe he posted the wrong coin in the ad. You will note that the coin is in a 2x2 that describes it as a 1943-S doubled die. Go figure. Thats why I like my '55 doubled die. No question its a doubled die. Shocked I attached the ad with the description. Mr. Weinberg also has a couple rotated coins on his site I am thinking about. An indian cent and a 2 cent piece.

I agree with Chuck. It doesn't look like a DDO at this point. This is one of those occasions where having it in your hands (by the edges of course Laughing ) will determine what it really is. As far as rotated dies go...that can pretty much be a no-brainer. Chuck will take care of ya!

I think someone was mistakenly seeing the machine doubling prevalent on the coin as hub doubling. I would think that Fred would certainly know the difference, I just believe this example was an oversight. I will call him after I get the coin and ascertain that it isn't a doubled die.
