Looks like trails but I think this is caused by the cleaning of the die. The flow is in the same direction as the die scratches under the chin. What do ya think. Way to far back for those trails huh.

Steven, I'm not much if a "trail watcher", but they sure do look like the real thing. Check the "9". Looks like there might be one there, too. Why would it be "too far back"? maybe this has been going on far longer that we realize, and you have just found one of the very few that still are able to show the anomily.

Interesting, most trail coins are from the later years when dies are made with single squeez. I don't see why the same thing could not happen on older ones before single squeeze. I hope BJ can update the thread after he sees it, another clue in the puzzle.
