Hi Folks,
I have had to return my last attribution package to its owner because of a catostrophic computer failure. Although I had adequate backup and recovery discs, I did lose my ability to edit photos and load data into the coppercoins database. I am continuing to have problems with the computer but hope to have most of them solved shortly. I do have access to most things now, but fine tuning everything to like it was before is proving difficult at best. Please bear with me while I try to get things going again, and with Chuck while he completes his move.

Well, things are looking better today. I did manage to get my file transfer protocol (FTP) working, so I now have access tot he coppercoins database. I am also running an older version of Photoshop to edit photos with, so as far as coppercoins stuff, I am back up and running. I still have a bunch to do to recover some other files, and for some strange reason, my computer will not install the service pack 2 (SP2) for Windows XP without freezing up again. Without SP2, some programs don't work properly, but I can use the computer without it. Anyway, thanks for your patience!

Bob, My condolences for the loss of your "beloved machine". But when the beast "craps out", it makes one feel like stomping the beast! Been there, done that!
My suggestion would be "grin, and bear it", but as well use a "RAID setup", or use a second computer. I like an old case with a newer MD, and CPU. that way you can replace the HD in the standby unnit, with the working HD, and be off, and running again.
If there was anything I could do to help, I'd be more than glad to offer my services, but, "where do I start"?
Dick

Bob, did the hard drive fail, or the system, ie the computer , itself? If the hard drive is intact, it can be placed into another init, ant once it recognizes everyone, it will get busy again

Dick, the hard drive is fine. The boot sector failed so I was able to restore it to factory settings. However, a lot of stuff I added to the computer over the last 2 years or so was unrecoverable. The computer keeps crashing whenever I try to add the Service Pack 2 to the Windows XP operating system, so a lot of programs will not run properly without SP2. That is the problem I don't know how to fix. I will use this desktop along with my laptop to get most things done, so it's not too terribly bad.

Bob, I think SP2 was designed to force us to go to Vusta. But in my case "it ain't gonna happen"! i'll go back to 98SE, first! Everything works just fine there.
Now for the emails, and home addresses, I would ask all the members who read this, to send you an email with both,, or if that is not conveneint, then a PM with the home address. We could very easily put our email add. in our profile. What say gang? At any rate, Bob, here is my email add., and I'll PM you with the "brick, and mortar" info.
Azbrushape@ail.com, or livingdinasaur@aol.com
Re the SP2 problem, I find it a big P-i-t-a! But I guess we will have to live with it, (which means in my case, buy newer equipment to work with a newer operating system. Wish I could solve that issue for you, but we will sink in the same canoe, together.
