Found this in pocket change today.
There appear's to be heavy die polishing on the reverse.

Very nice photos. Appears to be an RDV-005. Normal reverse design for 1988 though. Spend it.

I agree with Car10. The "serif" at the bottom of the G's leg appears to be metal flow caused by die aging.
