"Credit cards and Paypal NOT accepted"!, tells me this guy is a "ringer"!. Those two ways op payment give the buyer an option, if they don't like what they get. Not even with a "ten-foot-pole", please. Better yet, just say no!

DO NOT BUY FROM PEOPLE WHO DON'T PROVIDE A WAY TO RETREAT FROM A PURCHASE MISTAKE. THIS AUCTION, AS HAS BEEN POINTED OUT, IS JUST SUCH AN AUCTION...ALL APOLOGIES FOR NOT READING THE FINE PRINT, PRETTY STUPID SENIOR MOMENT FROM SOMEONE WHO SHOULD TAKE THE TIME TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE OF THE AUCTION.

If you want to read a long sad one read this CU thread. It will remind everyone not to spend much without using paypal or CC unless you know and trust the seller:

ED, that is a pretty sad situation. A lot of money involved I guess I have been very lucky, in that I have only been burned by ANACS. None of the ebay sellers have hurt me, and I only use PayPal, or echecks from the Paypal account. Either way, you have recourse. If I can't pay for it thru PayPal, I don't need it! I am very careful of who I deal with. I won't even touch a sellerwith less than 5000 feedback score, and even then it depends on the conditions stipulated. Like the one that said "No Paypal, or credit cards accepted". If there ever was a red flag, that one sure is. I sure hope he, ( I believe it is roadrunner), is able to get his money back, AND get that seller off ebay, and in jail, if it is necessary.

There are laws on the books about keeping financial records for 10 years in most states. It allows investigators to pursue claims against unscrupulous dealers like the one in the aformentioned auction. I went to click on the link provided, and got zilch. EBAY had removed the posting. I recalled one such auction that I purchased, and the item vanished from my automobile. I wanted to get a pic for the authorities, but no such luck.
The point is this...if EBAY is making money on every transaction, then a complete documented record of that auction should be kept for years. But EBAY doesn't do that. Could it be that they want to AVOID litigational issues by removing the audit trail? In that case, they would be jointly and severally liable for removing the data which would enable you to recover. Worse thought yet is that they are in cahoots with seedy sellers, an ugly and untenable thought which cannot be squared in a civil society, brothers.
At the least, a proper response to this conjecture would be a Facebook-like retreat, with a complete mea-culpa saying they will indeed keep our stuff on file for more than they presently store it. Considerably more.
