There is somewhat of a bit of back-pedaling on laws which disallows us using our cents as we wish-making a profit by melting.

Particularly those without Zinc.

I have a feeling that law or no law, copper cents are being melted. Currently, I only get about 10 copper cents per circulated bank roll. In a few years, it will probably be like the Pre-1965 90% silver coins. If not melted, they will be hoarded by people like us until such time as they can be sold for their metal content. I know I never put a copper cent back into circulation. One day soon, any copper cent in circulation will be as rare as finding a wheat cent.

So true, Mr Home. I get about a 50 percent mix, so I feel good culling them out, but maybe not so by 2008. I now wonder aloud if that company continued to send their guys out, agglomerating a massive market advantage, and they somehow knew the ban wouldn't stand. That'd be a stealthy story- guys who were lobbying congress somehow assured the situation would soon change. I motored on anyway, keeping my efforts up, and I have enough to feel good about not being shut out in the mad scramble of late 2008 for good coppers. As for me, I am keeping mine until I die, and fully expect my relatives to bury me with them all, I am such a tightwad. Laughing

I must say, in all due respect, Notabot, Youn aren't the only collector that is "looking forward to having something to after we depart this life"!
