it was just sitting in my little pile of change from today.. it's maybe an AU red. these are pretty rare aren't they...? nice Cool

sorry, no pics.. but it's legit. someday it'll pay for whatever i bought... Very Happy just thought i'd share Confused

Congrats! A pocket change find is always a little more special. It's like getting a bonus back from the merchant. I have yet to find a double earlobe on a Lincoln (but I'm still trying). I did find a double earlobe on a Colorado quarter - and it too was a pocket change find.

I don't know of anyone who has been keeping track of the numbers of 1997 doubled earlobes that have been reported. I think they can be described as scarce. They did make it to at least MDS, so the numbers may be misleading anyway. Not a lot of people know about or look for the doubled earlobe on 1997 cents. As far as value...based on some auction results and some older data, they can fetch between $20-40 in AU condition. Of course the person who wants a nice clean example of the variety may be willing to pay more.

exactly.. i think this is the first time i've found something worthy of a thread at any coin forum, in circulation... i've almost bought one of these a few times... got this one for cost, feels good... Cool
